Braided Hina Dolls
Braided Hina Dolls
A very cute palm-sized Hina doll with traditional braided cords on the costume.
The costume is made using three strings that get gradually thicker from the inside to the outside, and is tied in the auspicious Awaji Musubi knot. Each piece is made by a tassel craftsman, who tightens the strings with just the right amount of pressure to create a natural rounded shape.
The doll's head is made of wood and is shaped like a small gourd. Gourds are considered lucky charms, and in feng shui they are said to ward off illness and evil spirits.
The princess's head has hair made of string and a small Awaji knotted picture frame made of gold thread, giving it a more Hina doll-like finish, while the prince's head has a crown and sash made of string.
It is recommended as a "My Hina" doll for adult women to enjoy, and also as a return gift for the first Doll's Festival.
